Art & Life with Victoria Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Jones.

Victoria, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Throughout my life, I desired to find a creative outlet or a talent that I could perfect and call my own. After attending Central Arizona Community College, I put those desires aside to obtain an occupation that provided security, opportunity to grow, and a pathway to endless learning. I spent the next seven years as a professional in the finance industry. It provided all that I was in search of and even more. I am entirely grateful for all the experience and knowledge that I now possess. Although I loved my occupation, I still felt as though I could be devoting my time to something that felt more rewarding. That is when photography found me.

I’ve since become a full-time photographer who is able to share my excitement for each of my clients, often turned friends, memorable milestones and pivotal moments in their lives. I believe that each day is a reason to celebrate life and what better way to honor each experience than to capture the true essence of the present moment. It is often that one’s life seems to flash right before their eyes because we are all a product of busy days that turn into weeks, months, years. Before we know it, time has flown by. It is beyond a privilege for myself to be able to freeze time for just a moment and create heirloom art that turns into a sweet, cherished memory that lasts forever. Photography for me, is exactly the reward at the end of the day, that I was in search of for so long. I am incredibly grateful to be able to show you all, your world, through my lens.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a natural light, lifestyle photographer that desires to tell your true, authentic story. Each individual has a story to tell and my job is to capture its raw emotion and what makes it unique. My inspiration comes from the connection to people and the celebration of life. Not each and every moment that is photographed is full of joy, but there are moments that I see a smile come from a daughter who has lost her mother, as she was thinking of her legacy she left behind and all of the wonderful memories their shared together, There is happiness in the birth of a sweet newborn baby and welcoming them into this world. Joy is revealed during a family portrait session when a father looks at his children and the amount of pride he has in his family is evidently seen all over his face. My hope is that people can feel love and happiness when looking at an image that I have captured. We live in such a time that often times the news highlights darkness but light exists, and my purpose is to share that light with the world.

What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
My advice for connecting with other artists is to do two things. One being, connecting with your clients by finding common interests. I have found that when I am able to connect on a more personal level with my clients, they quickly become friends. The experience and time with me is much more meaningful to them when I am able to converse about the things that make me relatable and not just a photographer snapping away. I become human to them, which in turn, allows them to feel comfortable in front of the lens. The second piece of advice that I would share is to network with other local artists. Photography provides a plethora of opportunities to constantly be learning. Other professionals are happy to share their knowledge with you or connect you with endless possibilities to help you grow. I have found that the photography community is very welcoming and continues to show me that everyone is on board to see one another succeed.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
My portfolio is displayed on social media and on my website. I can be found on Instagram and Facebook at Victoria Jones Photography and at I am beyond grateful for those individuals that support my photography business by referring me to their friends and family, sharing my work on social media, and asking me to have the honors of capturing their senior, family, newborn, cake smash, maternity sessions and weddings or events.
